What if I told you that poison damage was only the beginning?
I have seen the tip of the iceberg of the post-victory endless mode. Suddenly, Jasper's doing 4 damage when he steals mana, then simulating an ally's attack. Which means you have a one-third chance of proccing poison or fire, all for the cost of one measly fire mana.
Even better, this completely flips the mana cost-to-benefit on its head, so instead of thinking "how can I survive long enough to source one wind and one water mana," it becomes "how do I manage mana overflow so I don't accidently run out of red?" Sometimes you have a little extra blue, so you have the fireball do a standard attack. Sometimes you're trying to keep a specific enemy alive long enough to loot it. It's nuts.
They have somehow created a game where, if you min-max it hard enough, the cheese suddenly wraps back around to deep, nuanced gameplay.
5 out of 5 Unobtanium cards that you skip because they're for Best Girl, and therefore useless.
i've had the same problem. i tired letting it sit thinking it was jest slow but that didn't work. i tried reseting my laptop but that didn't work either.
I ended up beating wave 20 then thinking I could resume the run later pressed main menu, I do have a few suggestions if the game is updated, those being:
Resistant enemies: I found it too easy to poison kill enemies without even allowing them to leave stun, possibly giving some enemies resistance from poison or fire.
Fast mode: Simply a fast mode that removes the fancy effects.
Stacking skills: Instead of skills repeating on the list, to keep it clean just add a x(I)
a char that uses 2 yellows: self explanatory.
Its a good game that I enjoyed, and if you see this, thank you for making this game.
Love the game, but I gotta say it's kind of unbalanced.
Totally understandable for a free online game, done by a single person (please don't take it wrong), but the Epic or even legendary cards can be way worse than the Common, and some heroes are invincible while others are just in the way.
edit: (Holy moly, just read this was for the game jam and done in 5 days; mighty impressive, big kudos)
I got through all 20 round untouched with the poisoner alone in 10 minutes, hitting by 300, mostly with common or rare cards, but the Golem thing actually gets in the way, taking valuable mana, murking the pool, and making attacks that take waaay too long to proct. Also, the team "X team mate also attacks" cards consume the mana for that attack if it's there, actually taking away flexibility and choices.
All around, I played for waaaay too long and broke with all characters at least once, but definitely the golem is the weakest, and the succubus the second weakest (though she can break with the +2 stun damage and some ally to kill the first round of enemies so that you are facing only stun locked monsters)
(all damage to flame taken at the start, when it couldn't deal damage in the same turn)
Honestly, if this game added some motivations to play the other cards; some unlocks, and maybe more enemy modifiers to add difficulty, I could see it becoming quite popular even as a paid game.
And (sorry for all the comments) super important, I think many would agree:
Some heroes' attacks take forever to resolve. No joke, you attack once and wait 1 whole minute or more just for it stop. That's a bit much, I think. Flame made me feel it a lot as I soloed him.
Great game! One sort of odd thing I noticed around level 15 or so, really just because the levels were getting longer, is that blue and yellow were really common around the beginning of any given level, then red would start to mix in, and the second half would only have red mana. I was playing with a full set of four, and every mana color was represented, so I'm not sure why that is.
The mana that appears corresponds to the heroes you have; if you only have one hero, you will only get the mana for that hero, if you have more, then you have to balance it better.
I beat the game with solo heroes, and you never see mana that your characters don't use.
Yes, but I have four heroes, with all types of mana represented. I was wondering about the ratio. All the colors are there, but during any given level, it goes from blue yellow, to yellow, to yellow red, to red throughout.
I think it's true Random; which contrary to what one might imagine means you might see paterns, as anything is possible. Maybe the author does drop by and correct me if I am wrong.
You can easily control it by having jasper with the "When you get one mana, you get 3" common ability, and it never becomes an issue, or by having only 2 heroes for simpler mana distribution.
I had a very good time with this game. Really cool and addictive ! I would give money for it ! It would be great on mobile. You can definitely make money with the game and give so much pleasure to players !
You can have fun and break with many combos, but the poisoner alone can win the game, without getting touched once, in 10 minutes top.
By level 15 you are hitting by 300 o 400 poison, the mana you get will only be the mana you need, and you get all the gold for a single character.
Faktu probably is referencing that adding more heroes is just for fun, there is no need for that to win. The fire hero can do the same, but slightly slower with each activation of fire damage taking a little while.
Really fun to play! The run I've managed to get was not absurd and overpowered, but the game is pretty addictive and the game is a fun experience even at this state!
Gods, I love DOT mechanics and this game really satisfied that urge to just see dmg at the end of the turn. Building up poison until it deals tons of dmg is really satisfying. Loved it!
all the comments are saying "eventually you don't need to ever end the turn" but... I didn't need to end the turn in the beginning either. I only ever ended the turn in later battles when I messed up. (not that it ever matters, since everything enters with a stun counter)

Brilliant! What a great Game!
game won't work. I drag the first card onto the first encounter and then nothing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Amazing work for a game jam! I'd love to see a fully fleshed out version.

Very simple but good game. I used thief and succubus combo, now i kill all enemies in one turn, cus i never run out of mana.
how to beat level one
use the starting hero. beat the enemy with the lowest hp first, then kill the rest. start with just 1 hero, use the guy who steals
mana for easy play.
Great game!
Very fun

fantastic game! would be perfect on mobile, or at least if one could use touch to drag the cards on mobile devices.
great game. nice mechanics
Love the game btw.
Oh god this game is awesome.
I made it to level 22 just because I was spending too much time
Krug is unbeatable
Is soooo much fun to play this game, good game design! More deck choices is a idea.
Really good game, fun to play
Cool simple game! Would love to see it expanded upon and sold! <3
Very very impressive feat to have made such a fun game in such a short time ^_^
currently doesn't have build diversity since upgraging 1 unit is probably the best way to play
I hard disagree. Jasper + Ubredisum is op af

game doesn't start after I drag the card to the center. Just sits there
great game but oh my goodness is the balancing broken. jasper and poison dude are soooo op its insane
very cool, jasper is completely overpowered but cool game nonetheless!
I liked this game
Game is super cool! I like it!

Awesome game! I made a video playing it but its kinda bad.
This was my first run so I did like REALLY bad.Really nice game. The art work, VFFX and implementation is awesome. Everything ran smoothly and it was fun. Good job.
Really love the game, very addicting and satisfying to play :)

I understand it now
Hehe.
Wow!
Whaaaa? How do you increase their HP?
randomly came across this
really fun but kinda easy to break the game, after like encouter 5 or 6 i never had to press end turn.
As many others mentioned poison and Jasper are a little strong, but it was fun still.
Also game seems to crash on level 20 :(
