if you think about it, there's a hypothetical missing character. one that represents the strength token.

Hi, I am a blind person. Is there a possibility you might be able to make this accessible for screen readers? For example, I use NVDA on windows. if I press spacebar on "play tutorial" when arrowing up and down to it, I hear a sound, but then nothing seems to happen. The way it could work in accessibility mode is, the choice will be said, it'll say how much tokens it'll cost and you press space/click it normally to activate the choice without having to use drag and drop. For blind players on PC, we often use the keyboard, using either space bar or enter to activate links or items in text-based games.

I really admire developers that take a non-violent approach like this to their game's design. I had a lot of fun playing this, and appreciate having been given the opportunity.

As I played through, I jotted down some ideas I had for suggestions and possible improvements:

  • Some encounters leave you with no choice but to use health tokens, as they don't appear with the right types of tokens that match the ones you actually have.
    • This makes the odds feel a bit unfairly stacked against the player sometimes, especially when they have a lot of other types of tokens that they should have been able to use.
  • I played through 4 games before writing these notes (once for each character type) and most of the time, I lost at the final encounter, simply by running out of tokens. It requires a hefty amount, and usually by then I was low on tokens, so could only proceed partway before having to substitute everything with health tokens.
    • Maybe reduce those final encounters to requiring 1 or even 2 fewer tokens overall? It can be challenging enough just reaching the end encounter sometimes, depending on how events played out up till that point.
  • The font sizes for most of the text in the main dialog box and the tooltips felt a little too small for my liking at 1920x1080 with the download version. An option to adjust it would be nice, or just a larger size by default.

Overall though, this was a fantastic experience that works quite well, felt unique and refreshing, and encourages repeat play sessions to boot. Thank you for making and sharing this wonderful game.

I seem to have found two bugs while playing the game online. Playing as Akili, the character of the wisdom token, I try using their special ability Bring Me Joy. I did when I am looking at the map before decide where I am going, and this seems to confuse the game. I can click on thinks, but nothing seems to make the game move forward.

Also I have incidents were I placed a token. Change my mind so I so I took the token out, then change my mind again and try place the token back. I cannot seem to be able to place same token back once I have taken it out of a slot choice. I can use a different token of the same type no problem. But I can use a token that I place on a choice, put back in pool, and try placing back on the same choice slot.

Game seems to be going somewhere. Congrats!

i accidentally without thinking shook king midora (king midas'?) hand and all my table cleared. it's an intended game over I suppose? fun game with really smooth feel and polish. cute graphics! I've no familiarity with the appearing npcs however. so everyone feels like somehow a random character.

This is one of my favourite games so far! It was genuinely fun and challenging, and I loved finding new strategies for each of the characters. Akili was the first character I beat the game as, and I started working with the rest of the characters too. Very fun!

there seems to be a glitch where if you run out of health and get above the maximum tokens at the same time, the guard will continuously talk to you, but the spaces to put tokens aren't there. I had to sacrifice some of my corruption tokens to my ability to make it stop, but after that death came. I corrupted it and that gave me more charisma tokens which put me over the limit. The guard behaved normally until after I got rid of the charisma tokens, when Death came even though I had a life token. This continued until I ran out of corruption tokens

The rare case where the browser version of a game works for me and the download version does not. I use a 32 bit Linux system and Wine for Windows games. The Internet browser is not a program for playing computer games.

very fun, cute, and simple. great way to kill time, and i would love to play a longer/endless version one day. i did however encounter a few bugs while playing:
1) i used a wisdom token to call nurse joy on the event map (because i missed the line that said she'd show up "after the current event" and i thought i could summon her at any time- that's my bad lol), and it bricked my game; i couldn't interact with the map, i couldn't tell nurse joy to go away- clicks were reactive, but didn't do anything. the only thing i could do was go back to the main menu.

2) i had a nearly full inventory (3 or 4 empty slots), and i used a shiny token for something, and i got 6-8 extra wisdom tokens (i think i ended up with 4 outside of the inventory barrier- the reward was Tripled if not Quadrupled, rather than doubled, as far as i could tell). i believe this led to a guard approaching me and attempting to take my extra items, but i wanted to see if i could be cheeky and keep my bugged-out items, so i used a charisma token to try and shoo him away. i don't think the guard liked that very much because he proceeded to metamorphosize into an endless number of other guards. i had to leave and start a new game.

3) i noticed that, while playing the tutorial, the highlighted areas are offset from the middle and are much farther left than they should be, or are highlighting a completely random spot. thankfully the game is simple enough that i could still figure out what was what.

i think there were a few others, but they weren't nearly as significant as those- i think they were just little glitches with rendering text and whatnot that didn't otherwise disrupt gameplay, and even those were few and far between :)

The reaper kept coming even though I had health I ended up using some of my tokens hoping it was just a glitch and it would fix itself

Fun game, hope you will make another similar one with updates, or keep up with updates / add more things into this one? its a good time killer and some of the dialog is very amusing. Good work :)

Bugged, unfortunately. Used my last shiny health token and got 6 tokens back, paid off death and got a shiny health back, the guard wouldn't stop repeating himself over and over until I placed a coin in the "make it shiny" bucket, then he did the correct dialogue, but twice, even though after the first time I was down to the correct number of tokens, and then death came after me, even though I'd already earned back a health token from him? So I just hit "next" and died.
