Great game!

Very fun

Great game! One sort of odd thing I noticed around level 15 or so, really just because the levels were getting longer, is that blue and yellow were really common around the beginning of any given level, then red would start to mix in, and the second half would only have red mana. I was playing with a full set of four, and every mana color was represented, so I'm not sure why that is.

(1 edit)

The mana that appears corresponds to the heroes you have; if you only have one hero, you will only get the mana for that hero, if you have more, then you have to balance it better.

I beat the game with solo heroes, and you never see mana that your characters don't use.

Yes, but I have four heroes, with all types of mana represented. I was wondering about the ratio. All the colors are there, but during any given level, it goes from blue yellow, to yellow, to yellow red, to red throughout.

I think it's true Random; which contrary to what one might imagine means you might see paterns, as anything is possible. Maybe the author does drop by and correct me if I am wrong.

You can easily control it by having jasper with the "When you get one mana, you get 3" common ability, and it never becomes an issue, or by having only 2 heroes for simpler mana distribution.

I had a very good time with this game. Really cool and addictive ! I would give money for it ! It would be great on mobile. You can definitely make money with the game and give so much pleasure to players !

fantastic game! would be perfect on mobile, or at least if one could use touch to drag the cards on mobile devices.

great game. nice mechanics

Love the game btw.

Oh god this game is awesome.

I made it to level 22 just because I was spending too much time

Krug is unbeatable

Is soooo much fun to play this game, good game design! More deck choices is a idea.

Really good game, fun to play

Cool simple game! Would love to see it expanded upon and sold! <3

Very very impressive feat to have made such a fun game in such a short time ^_^

currently doesn't have build diversity since upgraging 1 unit is probably the best way to play

I hard disagree. Jasper + Ubredisum is op af

You can have fun and break with many combos, but the poisoner alone can win the game, without getting touched once, in 10 minutes top.

By level 15 you are hitting by 300 o 400 poison, the mana you get will only be the mana you need, and you get all the gold for a single character.

Faktu probably is referencing that adding more heroes is just for fun, there is no need for that to win. The fire hero can do the same, but slightly slower with each activation of fire damage taking a little while.

game doesn't start after I drag the card to the center. Just sits there

Game is super cool! I like it!

Really fun to play! The run I've managed to get was not absurd and overpowered, but the game is pretty addictive and the game is a fun experience even at this state!

omg this was so fun to play, rlly like the ubredisum + jasper combo

Awesome game! I made a video playing it but its kinda bad.

This was my first run so I did like REALLY bad.

Really nice game. The art work, VFFX and implementation is awesome. Everything ran smoothly and it was fun. Good job.

Really love the game, very addicting and satisfying to play :)

Gods, I love DOT mechanics and this game really satisfied that urge to just see dmg at the end of the turn. Building up poison until it deals tons of dmg is really satisfying. Loved it!

all the comments are saying "eventually you don't need to ever end the turn" but... I didn't need to end the turn in the beginning either. I only ever ended the turn in later battles when I messed up. (not that it ever matters, since everything enters with a stun counter)

I understand it now

Hehe.

Wow!

I got close :(

Whaaaa? How do you increase their HP?

randomly came across this

really fun but kinda easy to break the game, after like encouter 5 or 6 i never had to press end turn.

As many others mentioned poison and Jasper are a little strong, but it was fun still.

Also game seems to crash on level 20 :(

When Jasper is able to deal damage, he is pretty much indestructible. Ubredisum when his poison infects all monsters is also very strong. When you upgrade those two characters enough you don't need to use the others. The monsters can't get a hit in after level 7 or 8 or so.

I played to level 12 but there seemed to be no point continuing. When does the purple fire get unlocked?

you have to have at least one character slot open early on to recruit at the tavern for the fire.

using valrech and jasper, give jasper "simulates random allies attack" you will have infinite mana pretty much. then just upgrade both of their damage and you will never have to end turn

Amazing little card-based Roguelike (AN ACTUAL TRUE ROGUELIKE, NO PROGRESSION OUTSIDE OF UNLOCKING A NEW STARTING CHARACTER). It hits 2 of my favorite game categories. I would love to see a Steam release for this or even just a downloadable file to play the game locally.

What a fun game!  I would love to have an option to auto calculate the damage.  By the time I got to level 12, it would take a full minute to make an attack.  (With the stun guy and the flame guy.)

Really liked it. I was like yo this is so similar to Escape the Fold, what a cheat! Then I realized… hahah

Keep it up

The poison guy it's extremely OP.

It's basically impossible to lose after get some poison and the Jasper.

1º - Let the game be able to click an drag on mobile.

2º - Reduce the max mana bar.

3º - Let the game beeing infinty if player want to keepplaying.

4º - Star a hard growingup progression on monsters after lvl 20 to challenge the player to do something else instead just keep using a broke build.

5º - after player lose, send his progress/lvl reach/ points to an online scoreboard to compeete.Guys, I haven't had so much fun for too long till I play this game. Please, keep improving it.

for some reason when i get to the first fight the cursor does the animation when i click, but i can't drag my card, nor can i click any button on the menu when i click "Esc"

This is so much fun. The way the combat works just makes me want to find the best combo. Really, really great job for a jam game.

It is a solid basis for a game with more depth!

However, I got kind of bored after the first fights, because it became really too easy and the animations made the pace extremely slow. I only played Jasper and Velrach, but as others have pointed out, Jasper seems pretty op with a few powerups that weren't even particularly rare if I remember correctly. Maybe other characters are op as well, but I didn't have the courage to start all over again.

Here are my suggestions :

  • Balance the game. Some abilities are way too strong/too cheap. One obvious example for me was the "get 3 mana when you steal a 1-mana enemy" (I thought "Well, I will just be able to keep attacking all game and never end my turn ?", and yes that was it.). I know you talked about "breaking the game", which is kind of fun, but it happened way too early to be enjoyable for me.
  • Make the animations trigger faster the more powerups you have. Having to wait for all these +x damage (even as overkill) killed the pace of the game and made it really painful to get to the end.
  • Make the enemies more unique. I would actually like it more if there were only like 5 enemies, but with very different behaviors/abilities. When I played, they all looked like plain numbers to me (even if the art is kinda cool).
  • Make the gold loots move or disappear. Currently, the amount of gold you get seems purely random and you don't have any influence over it. If the coins were to move to other cards or disappear after the first turn, you would really have interesting choices to make (prioritize winning or earning money).

That's it! It was pretty good though and upgrading to a more interesting game seems like it might not be that difficult now that you've done the hard work.
