FORWARD: Escape the Fold was created to be the perfect bitesized roguelike dungeon crawler. Choose your champion and face a relentless crawl through the card-based dungeons, collect items to power your abilities and defeat the gruesome monsters facing you. But keep going FORWARD!
Features
- Unique Progression System: Make your way through the dungeons by choosing a path from 3 cards at every turn but choose wisely! One bad decision can lead you to the graveyard. Select the next card which will help you get one step closer to redemption!
- High Energy Roguelike: You will need to make decisions at every step of the way. Crawl one card at a time and combine objects found in chests, markets and at the end of each dungeon to bolster your character's abilities. Beware of the cursed items and their devastating effects!
- Just One More Turn: In the Fold, you will never feel prepared. Designed for replayability, each ascent is original and will feel fresh and challenging even to the most experienced player. Use your instincts and knowledge of your champion to fight away the gruelling beasts that populate the underworld.
What you will discover in the fold
- 7 Champions to unlock with unique powers and backstories. Learn more about this mysterious underworld and understand what brought these enigmatic champions there. Additionally, master their powers as they will alter radically your ascent and your playstyle.
- 100+ fully detailed item-cards to discover.
- Leaderboards for the most powerful players. Easier said than done to be up there.
- Fast-paced gameplay enabled by the one-input gameplay. Keeps the game dynamic at all times.

I'm Christophe Coyard, the solo-developer of FORWARD: Escape the Fold and I previously worked on various small mobile games with the aim of developing my game design skills. Do you think you'll make an android version
Im A Huge fan of the art style. the enemy's are really great looking and with its short, action filled runs its a great bite sized game and a perfect example of a game being to easy to start and difficult to master.
I could definitely see this being a very addictive mobile game and i hope to see it brought to mobile at some point in the future
Love the game, but every time I click Launch in the Itch client, it says installing the game (though afterwards it does launch). Is it like that for only me or everyone else too?

Yes, it’s planned. For iOS too. Probably this fall, time to improve the game, add content and adapt it for mobile.

I liked the game jam version, but apparently there is no linux build yet. Is it temporary or did you drop linux support ?
Yes sorry about that, I’m not on Linux and I don’t know enough about it to do a build. Someone mentions here https://steamcommunity.com/app/1766390/discussions/0/3276939184050666246/ that it works on the Steam Deck so I figure it might work on Linux? I’m not sure.

You can run it and most games through steam on their proton compatibility layer. That's how they run it on steamdeck.
I'm not into steamdeck or anything related to that company. Being a gamedev myself, let me know if I can help. I also happen to have a belgian friend running a company that does just that if you prefer professionnal support.
I have the game on Steam but thought I'd come here and vouch for your game too. Really fun to play, and as simple as it is it actually has a lot of depth too. Good stuff!
